It's never been "religion v science" - it's always been "some religion v
science".

As soon as you demand the unerring literacy of the Bible (or pretty much any
classic religious text) then religion and science are utterly incompatible.

In short science and religion are only compatible as long as you're willing
to make compromises to one or the other.  Many people - even some faiths -
can, many can't.

You're making a "God of the Gaps" argument (God is in the unknown) - and
that works very for many, many people.

But it really doesn't say anything about the very real issues surrounding
the inability for science and (some) religion to come to terms.
