Yes, we would. Just like we talked for days, weeks and months about the Christian nutcase who shot up the church because they were "too liberal". Remember that.
Or how we drove Matt Small away by being so "anti-Christian", making him defend every poor decision done in his religion's name. Or how the press asks Mitt Romney about polygamy every time a mic is thrust towards his perfectly groomed hair. Or how we ask McCain and Republicans about all the things done by his pastor supporters. Or Obama about his connections to domestic terrorists and black pastors. Or any socially challenged web developer after the Heaven's Gate trainwreck. We are perceived by others through the lens of who we are associated with. Tarred with the same brush, to use an antiquated colloquialism. Which is why, when we are "wrongly" associated with someone or something, we protest and step away. You want another example of how we "hold ourselves to the same standard"? When the Waco wacko situation was going on AND the whole thing was being done in the name of the bible and Christianity, who got asked about it? Any pastor or priest or father who could be cornered on the subject. And how many said "leave him alone", or "yep, he has it right"? Maybe zero? And how many cried at the top of their voices that "this is not our religion"? Lots. So to me these questions are perfectly normal. It is what we do.
