Just got an update this morning from some Washington lobbyists (the good kind) on Healthcare IT in the stimulus bill:
* $17 billion for physicians incentives (healthcare IT incentives) +$2 billion for the National Coordinator of Health IT !! So that's $19 billion for healthcare IT. * Lots of medicare bonuses in there for using new IT: e.g., Docs will be getting $44k-$64k if they use an EHR (5 years) and there's about $40M through 2015 for docs and hospitals to utilize electronic health records and $20M through 2019 And, no, there's nobody that's won those contracts so jump in! Also, word on K street is that the Gov of Kansas, Kathleen Sebelius (sp?) will get the HHS Secretary nod and Zeke Emmanual will be the Whitehouse adviser for office of healthcare.
