And just to blow everyone's mind, I'll tell you a horribly wrong thing about the state of healthcare technology: Microsofts stuff is not too bad. Google's stuff really sucks. Its a shame to have to say that. But Google Health is utterly useless whereas Microsoft Health Vault is vaugely worthwhile and actively getting better.
I'll be curious how the money for new EMR's goes in the market. The bulk of it doesn't come into play for a couple of years and one of the reasons that EMR adoption rates are so low is that EMR's are complicated, expensive and the implementation time/transition is really rough. It is quite daunting for existing paper-based practices (which are the majority of the practices in the US) to switch to electronic records.. Getting all the data in, training physicians and staff, redesigning office workflows...it can pretty much bring a small practice to its knees. So who is writing the proposal for the cf-comm health care system?
