Do you live in a "no-fault" state? That means your insurance pays no
matter who's at fault and thus your insurance rates can rise simply
because you were there.

If you live in an at-fault state then that means the 1st cherokee dude
(who was on the phone I'm sure) is at fault and your insurance company
can sue them is they don't approve a fair pay out.

So this means you might want to get multiple estimates, not just from
the one the 1st cherokee dude might recommend.

Only once you're sure what it's really gonna cost to restore your
vehicle should you agree to the repair.
