1.) Written by fecking journalists or worse: posters to wiki. You think they're finance experts? 2.) They're writing to an audience of people like you - people who don't care to actually understand this, but just to have surface level - wrong - understanding for cocktail parties or for 8th graders who need cites for the big paper. 3.) For the love of God at least read Michael Lewis. Cheeses and rice. If you want to actually understand this stuff you're going to have to buckle down and study finance. You're going to have to understand glas-stegal, your going to have to understand the CFMA. But, to respond: Of course mortgage defaults had something to do with it. But since you're not getting it, you leave me no choice but to give you an analogy. Let's say you quit your job and decide to earn a living betting at the race track. Things go great for a few months, you're winning big, and everything is fine. But then you lose. and then you lose again. And then you borrow money from me and lose that. And then I break your legs. Did the horses have something to do with your crash? Of course the horses had something to do with it, but the real problem is: 1.) You thought betting on horses would be a good way to make a living. 2.) I fronted you money knowing you were going to put it on risky horses. 3.) Your wife didn't regulate you. But now if we're really doing this analogy we'd have to extend it to the whole romunn family. You wife is betting too, but not on horses, on dogs. Your uncle is betting on blackjack. your brother is betting on slots. And you've all borrowed money from one another. And you've all insured each other in the though that if one of you lost big the others would backstop you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:289424 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
