Well I'm glad.

And, frankly the reason I care that you understand this is not just
about mortgages is because you're going to need to understand that if
you're going to make the right decisions going forward - especially
with your wife in RE biz.

So to complete the analogy - saying this is all houses is like saying
that your aunt and uncle have a gambling problem so if you just pay
off their debts at the horse track you'll be all set.

You won't.  Because it's not the horses, it's the betting and the
controls on the betting.

So will paying off the track be a great start?  Sure.  But are horses
the definition of the problem?  No.

Because then you've got to worry about the casinos, the dog track, and
every other place the bets were made.

But if that super-awesome analogy doesn't convince you then watch the news:

Because if you're right, we'll clean up this house problem and go back
to the same system we had before.

If I'm right, this is a systemic failure and houses are one of many
symptoms.  And the system that rises from the ashes will look nothing
like the system in 2008.
