>Knowing that this might spark off a debate that we regularly see
>around here, anyone see this "documentary" by Bill Maher yet?

I haven't yet, but I'd like to...will have to rent it from Netflix when I have
a chance.

>I really hate when
>people try and convince others to believe in what they believe in, as
>I think it is a personal choice.

Well, it's important to keep in mind that for many religious people, sharing
your beliefs and trying to bring others into the fold is an important part of
the faith. We recently had a discussion about this in a bible study I am doing,
that you really cannot be a good Christian if you just keep your faith to
yourself. However, I do think there is a right way and a wrong way to go about
it...I certainly don't try to be an in-your-face "you're going to hell because
you don't believe" kind of person...but if someone is interested in why I am
Christian and what that means to me and the changes it has brought to my life,
I am always open and willing to talk about it.

>I just don't agree with the way that it was done,
>blatantly making poking fun at those that believe in what they believe
>in on camera.

Yeah, that kind of thing I don't know is really necessary, but he is a comedian
after all, so hardly unexpected. I think too many religious people get easily
offended at things...personally I always enjoy reading or hearing opposing
points of view on such topics...if one's faith can't stand up to scrutiny or
criticism, it's hardly a true faith.
