>That is such an important point. Yes, your faith should be shared with >others....but through actions, not words.
Well, that's not entirely true...we are pretty much told in the New Testament to go out and proclaim the Good News. It's not something you are supposed to be silent about, although certainly a lot of us that *are* Christian are often more comfortable with that, and as you say, letting our actions do the speaking. I personally am not particularly vocal or open about my faith in general, but it's something I try to be aware of and not *actively* try to hide. As my pastor would put it....if you had found something that brought you great joy and happiness in your life, wouldn't you naturally *want* to tell everyone about it? But some people are certainly more gifted at this than others...and I do think it can sometimes be a tough thing to do while being respectful of other people and their right to choose and lead their own lives. But to say we shouldn't try to convince people to believe what we believe....well, that would be like saying you shouldn't try to convince people to agree and vote with your political party/position. And in a similar way, there are a people I enjoy discussing politics with...and others that can be pretty offensive in their approach when you are not in agreement with them. >So often we see just the negatives (extremism, Phelps, loud mouthed >evangelicals, ID in schools, etc). These yokels are FAR outweighed by the >millions of believers who quietly let their actions proclaim their faith. Yup, it's always the fringe elements people see and hear about the most. I am always amazed at the generosity and amount of work the folks I know do in the community (and often take trips to other areas that need help as well). I only wish I had more time myself to do more. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Adobe® ColdFusion® 8 software 8 is the most important and dramatic release to date Get the Free Trial http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;207172674;29440083;f Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:289992 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5
