Gruss brought up the argument over "unlimited unchecked power" and made a personal attack against me in regard to the abuse of power argument in at least two separate posts in this thread. I responded with a relevant question about the abuse of power issue that goes to the heart of what the Founders regarded as the most dangerous flaw in democracy- the potential for a tyranny of the majority. The danger of the tyranny of the majority applies to wiretapping, and it applies to the tax code as well. All on point and not a red herring.
When Gruss ceases his personal attacks, I will consider refraining from using the larger philosophical issues he raises in his attacks as rhetorical sticks. Until then, Whack-A-Gruss is the name of the game.
