If you're curious what the President has to say from yesterday a great
source would be his 1+ hour town hall from California where he
addressed all of the issues you mention in a speech and took open
unscripted questions from an un-vetted audience.

Which, of course, couldn't be more different than Bush's occasional
forays into public - by which I mean a vetted group asking scripted
questions.

Interesting note on that, btw.  About 4 years ago a friend got his
wife and daughter a ticket to one of these events through some
connections he had.  He's a blazing Bush supporter, btw.

Anyway, his daughter & wife were questioned for 10 minutes on arrival
to the event before they were granted admission and they were given
questions that they could ask.

Eventually they even got a picture with Bush.

But the weird thing was my friend didn't think these controls on a
"public" event was at all odd.

I do.

And I'm glad Obama isn't following that ... tradition.
