I'd save a lot of money under a system like that, but you'll hear a lot of
arguments about it not being progressive or fair to low-income earners (who,
as a percentage, may end up paying more than they are now).  You'll get that
argument on any flat tax, Fairtax included, though they Fairtax has
provisions for refunding a portion to offset that (it's been a while since I
dug into the details of that).
