If you really wanted to use them to your advantage, stop using the
card entirely except for one small expense per month.  Then pay that
$10 (or whatever) off every month.  This will achieve your goal of
forcing them to continue sending you statements, they won't be making
any money off your interest, and it should help your credit by having
additional on time payments in your history.

I have old several cards I do this with.  When I stop using one,
instead of cutting it up I just autopay a utility bill or something
else with it, then put it in a drawer.  Then I pay that small CC bill
off each month.  Buys you an extra 30 days to pay the utility bill
(for free) and helps out your credit while you're at it.
