Tracking specific groups is one thing. Suggesting to law enforcement that an
entire class of people - white military veterans (and I'm not buying for a
second that non-white military vets might be attracted to right-wing
extremist groups) - poses a national security risk is anathema to a free
society. Imagine if the Bush Admin had released a report saying that Muslim
college students in the US posed a national security risk. There would have
been a very justifiable uproar over such a report. But Obama's team comes
out with a report that practically iindicts our own veterans and it's ok? I
don't think so.
