It is not about need, it is about want and adorability, People want big comfortable cars. As long as people want big comfortable cars, the manufacturers will make them the cheapest way they can.
Until there is a reason for Auto makers to produce a large SUV that is more fuel efficient, they won't make it. We need to look for a way to get the auto makers to do the research into this. Public demand won't do it because there are not enough alternatives, people are stuck. So lets ask this question: How do we force the auto makers to do the research? Right now demand is low, we need away to increase demand, tax breaks don't increase demand, they just make it more appealing, if people don't buy them your out of luck. We need to create demand, One way, Government agencies and organizations should be required to buy highbred vehicles unless there is a compelling reason otherwise. Corporations get a tax break when they buy these vehicles for their fleets. Raise the gas tax, force people to want more fuel efficient cars. In the end you can't pass laws that require a company to go a certain way, you have to make them want to go that way. > > As soon as environmentally friendly products are as useful and as cheap as >their "dirty" counterparts, people will switch in droves. > >Not really - the vehicle trend now is towards ridiculously large. How many >people need all the room a suburban has? > > > Asking people to give up their way of living for "the greater good" I feel >is not taking basic human nature into account. > >I think then, we need to overcome our basic human nature and teach our kids >to care about each other and the planet. ______________________________________________________________________ Structure your ColdFusion code with Fusebox.
