Have you tried to contact the old webmaster? As in actually gotten a phone
number and physically called? Have you opened a ticket with yahoo with the
below info? Escalated it at yahoo as far as you can?

Why is the domain down? Did his account expire? are there files there? the
owner never got FTP info from the old wm?

The yahoo id might just be his email address. What is the wm's email addy?

After all that, I don't really know other than a personal visit to the old
wm's physical address with a couple of big goombas ....
