Ahh, but my new Latitude didn't really cost me anything unless you consider
the cost of my warranty from my first Dell Latitude ($300 or so). :) Of
course that's an exception...

When I got that puppy back in 2003, I got an extended warranty deal on it.
The week before the warranty expired back in 2007, Dell replaced it
outright, hence the new D830 (current top of the line at that time)

And I don't run any of those apps locally anymore (SQL Server, Oracle, CF
Server). But I do use Adobe's tools. I also don't keep files local unless
I'm currently working on them. I could use a much lesser machine, but I wont
need to buy one for quite some time. Thank you warranty! :)

XP Pro is the best all around IMHO (at the moment) unless you are a 'nix
head.

And the Mac people are another story...
