/me chews up mouthful of fresh tomato slices before speaking ... LOL!
Not sure who or where they are talking about. Just about every town has a farmer's market and I know there's great produce section in every grocery store down here. Is it all local? Heck no. But it's all vegetables. A lot of organic selections too, even all the way up here in the "sticks and boonies". I always welcome packages of sundried tomatoes though ... and avocados. Yummy! LOL! Heck, where we live, all our friends are handing out fresh hauls of produce. Tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, bell peppers, hot peppers, you name it. We already ate some fresh cukes out of our container garden. The tomatoes and peppers are starting to come in. Melons are a dime a dozen up here too. As for being too hot to exercise?! Christ. Get up early and beat the heat. Or wait until the late afternoon. And working for a living should never be an excuse. If you get really sick because of an unhealthy lifestyle (cancer's and the like aside) then you can't work anyway ... But look. (a loose explanation of the lazy) We all know that it's hard for people to make smart choices in life. That's why the prison's are full, people do drugs, and there's beggars on the street. Somewhere along the way, they either couldn't cope or did not have a strong enough role model/family support/community support or good strength of character to be an upstanding citizen and take control of their life and health. Hence the issues we all face. We can talk about this until we are blue in the face but the reality is, you aren't going to change the 300 pound redneck mama enough to get her off her ass and make sure her 250lb, 14 yr old son, stops playing his PS3 and gets out and plays. She can't be bothered and she doesn't have the fortitude to figure out how it is contributing to a lazy society. It's gonna take more than people getting off their lazy butts though to fix the health care system. That's just a small dent in the quarter panel. A very loose analogy by the way. No animals were harmed during my soapbox and any resemblance to to anyone is purely coincidental.
