If I can get a hybrid that does what I need it to I have no problem buying one. I
really don't care what type of engine is in the truck, just that it takes care of what
I need it to do. IE Tow a 10,000 lb boat.

Easy solution, include SUV's in the CAFE requirements. They are passenger
vehicles, but the auto industry has classified them as utility vehicles
which have entirely different standards.

Gm and Ford will be releasing hybred SUV's in the next couple of years.
Their milage, based on these hybred systems - gas and electric, or a natural
gas option instead, is in the 50 mpg range. So it does show that the
manufacturers can build systems that exceed CAFE requirements. They need the
incentive.
