Well here's the point is that there seems to be a "white male" fear out there with a black man in office and it's been described as: * minorities in power are going to discriminate against us (white males) for the sins of our fathers. I certainly think that's part of it, but I think there's a deeper even unconscious fear: of losing control of the system and therefore having to compete on equal footing. My questions were meant to show how the current system discriminates on the basis of money - and my questionable intuition tells me that most of the money in this country was historically concentrated and iterated among a subset of white males. If you're a white male outside of that subset it's pretty easy to sneak in unnoticed Fitzgerald style. But Jay Gatsby would've had a pretty tough time with that if he were black.
