I agree and disagree, lets assume it was a Palestinian
who opened fire on an Israeli, no matter a criminal,
war, or hate act, or better yet a Palestinian
soldier(actually cant say that,cause Palestinians
dont have an army), so lets say a palestinian
policemen opened fire, the first thing you will hear
is a Palestinian gunman, second you will hear an
Israeli shot or killed, then they would end it with ,
or start it with , a terrorist struckso maybe in
Chicago or London the nationality and ethnic
background are irrelevent, and most of the time it is
important and mentioned, but in that part of the
world, it is very relevent and its assumed unless
stated otherwise.

The Israeli newspaper at least included that
information. And look at is this way, you think
Rueters goes around posting articles about any
shooting in the world ? anytime someone shoots another
person in this world, Reuters write an article about
it ? I dont think so, nor do most Local papers, a
local shooting barely makes the news in local
newspapers, but this article somehow is important why
? cause it happened that someone shot someone and its
Israel ? does not make sense to me.nationality,
ethnicity, motive,position if any(police officer,
army, doctor), whatever, is alwas important.would
this make sense ? a man opened fire and killed
another man, the other man did not have any weaponds
on him when he was shotthe shooter was drunkhardely
worth a second of news, but what if did include that
information.and lets put it this way, a white police
officer(for example!!!) shot an un armed black man in
a total white niephorhood when the officer claimed the
man might have been out to do something badthe police
officer was drunk at the time

makes a big difference I think!

Actually, I think the article from Reuters was written
correctly. It was reported as though it was a crime.
Like it would be reported in London, or Chicago.

I personally think it should have stated that the
shooter was a police officer or soldier.

But the nationality and ethnic background of the
shooter and the shootee are irrelevant.

The fact that he was drunk is an added element to the
crime, but the inclusion/exclusion of that fact may
have been an editorial or space limitation decision.

The good news is that the young man will live, and
that the shooter has been arrested.
