Nope, you're wrong. The Albuquerque MSA has a higher violent crime rate than the Washington DC MSA according to the 2007 FBI crime statistics, http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2007/data/table_06.html. The DC rate only greater when a much wider statistical sampling region is included.
