Well it does reveal one of the reasons why the US has skyrocketing health care costs: our system doesn't care for health, it treats emergencies. Shifting part of the monthly credit card bill to a "public option" (the IRS) won't fix that. We need a system that incents people to stay healthy in the first place by punishing unhealthy lifestyles and rewarding healthy ones. THAT type of system would care for health.
