You know, I heard a story a long time ago on an Interbase list that was confirmed by someone who claimed he was there. The story is out there on the web somewhere too. This big retail golf company had spent some absurd amount of money in the 10's of million's of dollars on a customized Oracle based CSR data entry system. Well after a year in development the big rollout day came, and it crashed. The system could barely handle 40 concurrent users without crashing! They had to shut down the call center until they could get the old system back up. It was designed for hundreds iirc. Anyway, the company lost millions of dollars, and Oracle themselves brought in 12 of their own developers to fix the system....around 6 months later it was finally finished.
The only thing all that expensive software scales is their bottom line... jon ----- Original Message ----- From: "Duane Boudreau" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CF-Community" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Wednesday, May 01, 2002 6:29 PM Subject: RE: ATG Dynamo - Anyone???? > the new suits in the tech dept :( completely changing everything from > CF/Win2K/SQL7 to solaris/java/oracle. unfortunately they are choosing to > ignore CFMX, based on nothing more than sheer bias.
