Because Crystal is a sorry piece of crap for software. I am not exaggerating when I say that of all the software I have ever tried used in the past 10 years, Crystal has got to be the buggiest and worst piece of crap I have ever used.
An example: You cannot repeat the page header on every page. I mean come on! This is a "reporting" package and it is a report header. All I want is the same header to show on every page of the report. Believe it or not, Crystal doesn't do it and you have to duplicate the header on every section of your report. I even have a post it note on my monitor at work where I keep track of how many times crystal has crashed on me. (Right now, it shows 14 for one week). Sorry, I have been dealing with Crystal for the past few months and I had to vent. The system works like this: There is a Crystal Enterprise Server. IIS connects to via TCP/IP and a Web Connector, similar to the way Jrun used to connect. Here you can have the Report server on a box all by itself not sharing processor with the web server. But lets say you don't need another server because the report load will be low, and you can't afford a new server. Well it still tries to connect via TCP/IP and picks the IP it uses somewhat randomly. Sometimes it works, most times it doesn't. This is something they have just added to the software! Crystal documents this, they say sorry, it won't work. Why!!! Why!!! ______________________________________________________________________ Your ad could be here.
