>Hmm..what? >What were you saying? Going to play research psychologist here for a bit.
There is a fairly new technique designed to help people with attention deficit (ADD)disorder and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) called EEG Neurofeedback Training. IN a nutshell it involves training the person to produce certain brainwave frequencies. These brainwave frequencies are associated with increased attentional processing. Moreover in children at least its associated with increases in academic achievement and a significant reduction in ADD symptoms. In adults there are more mixed results. How does Neurofeedback Training relate to controlling the robot? From what I gathered in watching the video it appears that the Sony researchers are using the same methods as in Neurofeedback Training. As a graduate student in psychology I was trained to administer EEG's. Initially we just put the electrodes on the subject's head. Later we used an electrode cap, similar to what was shown in the photos. So I figure I know about about what the researchers were saying. The fact that they were able to get a subject to control a robot is a pretty impressive feat of programming. Unfortunately neither the video or article said what frequency bands they used for the controls. Depending on what frequency bands they used, it would be very interesting to see how the person behaved later. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
