Gruss,

I think Scott's statement is right on the money... *we* (meaning the US
voting population as a whole) elect our leaders and have (with the exception
of Gerald Ford) since this country began.

Since I have been of voting age, elections have become more about who is
brighter and shinier, who had the more believable line of bullshit, or who
has the most pissed off party members, in none of these cases has there been
anyone willing to take responsibility for the direction or outcome of the
country...

They say what they think the voting population want to hear, and then throw
it all out the window, and thumb their noses at us while they do it.

Until we as voters, decide to stop letting the GOP and the Dems think for us
and begin to vote based on the issues that really affect us everyday, we're
going keep the same wheel spinning, do nothing and smile about it, bunch of
crooks that we have had for the last 50 some odd years.

Obama really hasn't passed anything of substance yet, what has been passed
is continuation and building on (???) the previous administration's
"efforts", I'd love to see him do what he said he was going to do in the
election, but at his core, he like the rest of them is a politician, and
"honest politician" is a contradiction is terms...

And, again, the flaw in that thinking is - then why elect leaders?

Either we elect leaders to be responsible and accountable for the
outcomes of our country or we don't. If we do, then they are, and
thus your statement is wrong; if we don't then we've got larger
problems.

The fact is that the Republicans lead this country - solely - for 6
years and now the data is clear: they fundamentally fucked up
everything.

And, in the same way, Obama will be responsible and accountable for
the next 4 years and the fallout from those 4 years.

What's clear is that few Presidents, if any, will have failed more
than George W Bush.
