As well as put *alot* more people out of work.  I suspect your basic 
assumption that 1500 people did not work on this project, is probably 
not correct.  If one where to start tracking how many contractors and 
subcontractors and sub-subcontractors, etc received work from this, or 
any other, space program, you are going to come up with way more then 
1500 people who receive their income from these projects.
