Fond memories of chasing a headless chicken through the garden with a croquet mallet as a kid. Good times, good times. States can have a lot of weird dichotomies. Oregon is pretty liberal and forward thinking in a lot of ways. But we are still one of the whitest states in the country and have a strong representation of white power groups. And judges do fucked up things wherever you go. We had a judge recently who demanded that the State of Oregon pay bail on a guy who was awaiting trial on charges relating to sexual abuse of a minor...so he could go participate in a custody trial of his own kid and try to win full custody. Thankfully that judge is no longer handling child welfare cases now.
