Ion propulsion in it's current form doesn't generate enough thrust to achieve anything approaching escape velocity. However in space the thrust increases exponentially.
I'm not sure if NASA has even ventured into plasma rockets.. -----Original Message----- From: Vivec [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, October 28, 2009 1:55 PM To: cf-community Subject: Nasa successfully launches Ares 1 rocket! Nasa's prototype to the Space Shuttle's successor has been launched successfully. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8330424.stm Some awesome video. The power of these rockets and the speed is just incredible. You would have hoped by now we would be using some sort of ion/plasma burn super rockets but...in time :-) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Want to reach the ColdFusion community with something they want?
