Any traffic fatality should be investigated of course, and it's tragic of
course, but based on the facts so far I don't see this as anything but an
accident. Pedestrian error and a driven not quite as alert as one would have
wished? There's also a bar right at that corner if I am not mistaken, or
used to be (Quonsett Hut?) though we don't know if that's relevant. But it's
a thought given the closing-time timing.
