That reminds me of a funny story from when I worked as a paramedic. I had a call for a guy who was obviously having a massive heart attack, but he was refusing any treatment based on his religious views (I do not recall what religion, though I am sure at the time he told me).
Every time we tried to convince him to allow us to start an IV or seek further medical attention, he would say something like, 'If God wants me to live, he will get me through this.' I finally said to him, 'Sir, how do you know God did not send me to help you?' He thought for about 30 seconds, then stuck his arm out so we could start an IV and administer medications.
