I don't think this announcement was ever about replacing your MacBook. Whatever the case, I agree. I'll not be buying this round, thanks.
I am/was looking for a kindle-like device, so I could read while commuting on pub trans to work, but I'm not sure I want to invest just yet in this. I feel like I'd be the sucker that would get his hard-earned money wasted when they improve this idea 12 months from now. The bummer is that this could have been so much more - just gimme a tablet that I could dock, use as an actual day-to-day work machine, plus use as a portable media/entertainment device. I would have paid 1500/2000+ for something like that. But I guess that would have stifled the sales of all the other products Apple makes. Why sell one product that does everything when you could sell many many products that only do 50 or 75% of the things one would need during a typical workday? I love/hate Apple sometimes....
