Their best bet is probably to find a college student to do this work for cheap. Mobile development, and iPhone dev in particular are such hot technologies right now that pretty much anyone who really knows what they are doing in mobile development is being well paid to do development work. They are unlikely to find a person or firm willing to do anything for free unless they are really new and inexperienced at mobile, or a student. If I had a dime for every brilliant mobile idea I hear... But the barrier to entry is cost. Always cost.
