I think that there are a lot of frivolous malpractice lawsuits. I
agree there is a need or malpractice, but I think it is abused. I
think that abuse is the single largest reason for the expense of
healthcare.

Right now, the way healthcare costs are determined is not
capitalistic. Doctors and hospitals set the prices regardless of the
demand for those servies.

When my son was hospitalized last year, I went over the itemized bill.
We got charged $30 for each dose of children's Motrin he got. That is
fucking insane and that is why healthcare in our country sucks. Its
not that Bob may not be able to afford $30 for each does of Children's
Motrin, its that the hospital thinks that $30 for Children;s Motrin is
fair market value.

As long as it does not bankrupt this country, I think everyone being
covered is great. But again, that is not healthcare reform, it is
healthcare insurance reform. Just changing who is paying the bills
does not solve the real problem, its like putting a band-aid on a
severed femoral artery. Its nice we made an effort, but unless we get
at the root of the problem, it really won't change much.
