An attempt Tuesday to ramp the Large Hadron
Collider<http://lhc.web.cern.ch/lhc/>to its highest energy level yet
was set back temporarily by an anomaly
detected in the huge underground particle accelerator.

"Midday, with a bit of luck, we'll be back in the machine," said operations
head Mike Lamont on the Webcast. The accelerator could reach full power at
1:30 p.m. European time, he said.
