North and South is good for adults, depending on kids ages but Blue and the Gray is good for everyone. I own both. I also own Ken Burns which is good documentary.

I'm a huge fan of history and historical novels. I've read so many about the civil war it's hard to remember them all. Surprisingly, considering my lineage, the novel I am writing about the Georgia colony does not cover the civil war as it ends with the ratification of the Bill of Rights in 1791. Which leaves room for a sequel I guess, if I ever decide I do want cover that time.
