Darwin never said we descended from apes and the theory of evolution does not claim that we descended from apes...only that we have a common ancestor that we share with other primates. While that is popularly attributed to him, it was one of his students that said that (Adolphus Huxley if I remember correctly). Darwin's claim as that we had a common ancestor.
