To the core of this thread... Church groups have just as much right as any charity to fund their operations any (legal) way they would like, tax free. They should also be held to the same moral and legal standards as every other non-profit, charitable organization. If the Red Cross systematically covered up sexual abuse of children I would hope they would also be held relentlessly accountable, morally, legally, financially.
