Marriage is supposed to be forever if that is the agreement in your faith.
What about faiths that have short term marriage agreements that you renew as
long as the couple wishes to stay together? The law shouldn't regulate
marriage beyond the property and visitation issues, and if there are kids
involved, the support and parental rights/privileges issues. Beyond that,
if there are no other laws that prohibit it, then the government shouldn't
stick its nose in it.

I consider divorce to be a Bad Thing. Even if the purpose for marriage has
changed I don't believe it should ever become something you just throw away
when it starts to get inconvienent. It's supposed to be forever, kids and
plows or not.

That said, I like that idea. My wife and I were required to jump through
significantly more hoops than most couples because our pastor insisted on
it. Making something like that mandatory across the board could help a lot.
