AFAIK once kids are involved the woman automagically has more rights than the man in the relationship.
i.e. even if she moved into HIS house, she can put HIM out. He may even lose his house to her because of the child/ren I'm not sure that marriage actually helps in these situations except if there is a Pre Nup involved.
