"I pretty much agree with your interpretation of his stance in the interview, Jerry, and that is what I've been saying I felt his point was."
Thanks Judah. Good to see someone analyze instead of using knee jerk reactions. "However, I still think that, while not necessarily a racist, he is very very wrong. Do you feel that businesses should be allowed to not hire someone based on race, creed, color or religion? That is what he is arguing for. Do you agree?" Rand Paul made a mistake out of political naivety. He let Maddow frame the topic as an issue on race. He should have re-framed the topic as an issue on personal freedom. For example, does, say a web application developer, have the right to turn down business from the Black Panthers, La Raza, MS 13, the KKK, the Reconquista movement, or NAMBLA? Can these organizations/groups be discriminated against since the owner may disagree with there creeds? I think Paul wants people like David Duke, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, and Michelle Obama to have the right to be racist. I think he wants to allow web developers to turn down business from groups they don't support. I think he wants schools to have the right to have an all girl volley-ball team or for Augusta to have an all men golf club or Hooters to have all an all female wait staff. I think he wants to allow people like Larry and Eric to blame all the problems in the universe on Republicans. So, do I agree? Tough question. I can't say I totally agree, but I can't say I totally disagree. It is a tough issue that I won't be pigeon-holed on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology-Michael-Dinowitz/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:319394 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
