Well, the DOI says our rights are endowed by our "Creator". This may be picking nits....OR....this may be an important distinction if in fact there is no "God". If we were created by a random chance melding of particles...we still have a "Creator": Random chance. And thus, we still have these rights by the very virtue of our existence.
