I certainly don't believe that everyone on his varsity team ran sub-4 minute mile in high school. I saw the national high school record set by Alan Webb in 2001 at the Prefontaine. Had to look it up, but it is 3:53 and broke the previous best by Jim Ryun that had been set decades before. So if Eric ran 3:50 in high school, well, it is a national high school record that never got counted.
