On this matter we completely disagree. If your country fucked up, you
should own up to it. "American exceptionalism" is bullshit. We are as
good as our actions. A lot of times, our actions are very worthy and I
think that a good deal of the time, our country does a good job trying
to be a force for good on this planet and that should be commended and
celebrated. There have been a number of times, however, when the
opposite is true and it is just plain wrong to try and ignore it and
pretend that everything is peachy keen because we're America. I hope
that the next President has the guts to speak out and apologize for
Obama's continued, unworthy, actions such as extraordinary rendition
and keeping people illegally at black sites like Bagram and Diego
Garcia (and who the hell knows where else).

Just because we're America doesn't make things we do right. And if we
want to live up to the image we try and project to the rest of the
world, we have to be honest, forthright and fess up when we fuck up.
