Neither side is in the least measure honest or objective. Most who advocate the end of welfare simply feel that it's not the government's place to run what amounts to a charity that we're all required to donate to by law (and they have a point). Most who say we need Medicare simply feel that the government has an obligation to help take care of those who can't take care of themselves (and they have a point).
