I know some of you have experience with elderly relatives, so I thought I would ask for some advice.
My grandmother is in an assisted living facility. It is a nice place, but she is running out of money. Her SS, VA benefits and retirement won't cover her costs and her savings are dwindling. I am told that she makes too much to qualify for MC. I am a full time student and only pick up small jobs here and there as I can. Subsidizing her living costs is simply an impossibility. Moving her in with me is an option, but it is far, far from ideal. She can mostly take care of herself, but I don't trust her not to burn the house down, or fall or something while I am gone. So, she makes too much for a MC facility, but not enough for normal assisted living (all of the ones in the area cost roughly the same, give or take a few hundred dollars). Has anyone run into this before? Is there something I can do with her money to "move it somewhere else", to play with the numbers so she can get MC and I can pay the difference out of her retirement, VA or SS? Does anyone have any advice? I am not trying to jerk the system around. I am just looking for a way to pay for this. I love this system. The people who play it get along just fine while the honest folks have to jump through hoops, or get it right up the wazoo. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology-Michael-Dinowitz/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:324667 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm
