I think you took away from that chart what you wanted to. Spending is part of it but revenue is a bigger part. Basically, we need economic growth and a tax policy that ensures more stable revenue. That will enable us to deal with our debt obligations. I would also agree that we need to seriously look at spending and work to curb that, especially in areas that may not contribute to economic growth and stability. Spending isn't our biggest problem right now though, the sluggish economy and lack of jobs is our biggest problem. Slashing government spending isn't going to make our economy perform better. It is a worthwhile goal but should not be the focus right now. As someone once so succinctly put it, "It's the economy, stupid".
