Now that I'm a dad, these stories just tear me up:

Kids who bully other kids are generally not bad kids. Think back to when you
were a young teenager, how hard it was to fit in. You'd do and say things
that were not really in line with your character...without really giving
thought to the affects they can have on other people.

This is squarely on the parents. Keep up on what your kid is doing at
school. Know their friends. Within reason, know what kind of activities they
are up to. Instill a deep seated understanding of how important it is to
treat EVERYONE with respect. Repeat this mantra every single day if
necessary. Look for the signs that your child might be the target of a
bully...and just as importantly, look for the signs that your child might be
the one doing the bullying.

The solution to this social problem, just like almost every other one, is
parents....family...education...involvement.

K, I"m off my soap box now. So sad.
