Really, it seems to me that the congressional members of the Democratic party have been far more willing to work with Republicans, and more importantly compromise to get legislation enacted.
Let me put it this way, when the party thinks that someone who gets over 85% from the American Conservative Union is not conservative, that is a subtle hint that there is some extremism involved.
